Just a quick question

This may be a dumb question but I just need to know.
I want to remove my center console for a week or so to either get it painted to paint myself. After removing can I continue to drive my car as normal? I would also like to paint the horseshoe collar around the radio and heater controls. Can the switches just hang there while driving and waiting for the painter? Thanks for any replies.

You'll be ok. Spec Boxster guys run w/ no console, and it's not going to hurt running w/o the dash panels for a bit.

I'd be extra careful about not spilling or getting anything down in the console area, and I wouldn't let the dash switches just hang to where wiring could accidently get pulled, but all in all, it should be a non-event.

I do remember either here or on another board someone posting pictures of them driving doing exactly what you want to do and the world didn't end - you'll be ok.

You can absolutely drive the car without the center console. You can also get by without the stereo, climate controls, heater, A/C, speakers, door panels, passenger seat, carpeting, etc.
