918 on top gear

I am speechless, what a machine! If you get technical our boxsters are more purpose built sports cars without a silly glove box

It was a great segment...

with typical Top Gear "over the top" cinematography, filters, and special effects. I just wish they had shown more of the car driving at times without all the camera gimmicks and CG add on's. I felt it kind of made the segment feel a little cheesy and more like the intro to a video game. I am anticipating the match up to come between the 918 and P1 but I think the P1 may be the faster car but it certainly is not the better looking and better sounding.

you cant go to top gear expecting proper information... i find that from other places (highly recommend Chris Harris) I come to top gear to see the car in beautiful lighting and angles that others can not offer. Besides Top Gear is always very late to the party on reviews so even if they were informative you'd be crazy to wait a year or more for them to review it.

It is not the lack of info but sometimes the

over production that gets to be too much. They will show 15 different clips of the car in a 10 second span. Just let me see them go around the track briefly and see the car perform without 10 different camera angles every 10 seconds. The way they shoot the segements, I am pretty sure they do so because they are not "always" going as fast as they like to make it look so they show a lot of low angle shots of it passing a slow camera car, drifting...drifting...and more drifting. The evo/harris reviews are actually just as good from a film viewpoint and have real info to boot. Top gear is a comedy show and I am fine with that...the hilarious stunts...while getting rehashed at times, are still fun to watch. I love the show and most of the clips are beautiful to watch...the 918 segment I did not think was their best though perhaps because most of it was filmed at night. It just kind of felt like top gear meets fast n furious.

Are we talking about a recent episode here, or the one they did last year?

Agreed that Chris Harris is the go-to celebrity car tester. I love listening to him enthuse over sports cars.

Recent here in the states as far as

airing on BBC is concerned. It probably premiered last year in the UK though as I think the US is usually behind at least a season.

Love, love the exhaust. The 918 and P1 match up should be fun to watch.

Here's a link for anyone that wants to watch the 918 Top Gear segment.

I LOVE Top Gear and loved the car. It is beautiful and fast.

But I also loved the new McLaren they had a couple of weeks ago. Also gorgeous.

Then you start to think about the Veyron . . .

Love Top Gear

If you think, the veyron isnt that impressive... very heavy and to be honest it makes a small amount of horsepower for a quad turbo W16.... i mean the 911 turbo is as fast to 60 with half the turbos and less than half the cylinders haha.

^ Veyron is more a multi-million dollar science experiment for billionaires and Saudi oil sheiks.
You need a small crew of NASA engineers just to change the wiper fluid.
