If you are audible hearing the AC compressor kick in, and it continues to blow hot air no matter what the temp is set to then you could have a couple different issues. I have had low charge in the AC system still kick on the compressor but not drop the temp. Also have experienced issues with the vent (interior) temp sensor failing. Location I believe is in the grill under the passenger side air vent. Last but not least, I have seen a stretch of climate control units fail unexpectedly, regardless of the compressor audibly turning on.
