I think you'll be scoring a deal on a used Boxster or Cayman very soon.
The 993 is a great car to 'drive your savings account', so as long as you can avoid deceptively expensive repairs. Which means no driving when weather is bad, less driving in general, and generally speaking a lot more pampering. It's like giving up the bikini model girflriend who is always up for fun and bringing home the high maintenace ex-beauty queen wife. You still win but its going to be a different kind of fun now.
p.s.
no NOT ever sell a green 993. A green 964. A green 911. A green 912. Maybe even a green GT3. Start building a permanent spare garage for it now while borrowing rates are low, trust me it will be a break even expense at worst.

Jumped from a 986 to a 993 myself, 2 TOTALLY different vehicles. Each has their weak and strong points, enjoy them for what they are.....Very Cool Cars. During my 20's, 30's and 40's I have been fortunate enough to own some pretty neat cars. Every time I sold one I felt I had "moved up" when buying a successor, when purchasing a 993 I thought to myself "well, it can't get much cooler than this" and for almost 2 years now I cannot bring myself to think otherwise. I personally would not sell the 993 unless forced to, I have bought and sold quite a few cars, I like it THAT much. Air cooled Porsches are an entirely different breed which have a feel and touch when compared to newer offerings are archaic yet connected, many think that is gone forever, others may feel differently. I really liked the Boxster. I had 6 great years and 60K (mostly) pain free miles. In the end, I drove 10K miles per year and had $2K per year in depreciation (sold the car for $12K less than what I bought it for). Although my maintenance costs were higher than an average car, the total cost of ownership was lower than buying any new car (cheaper than buying a new Honda Accord).
The mistake I made was driving the 981. That got me thinking there was something more. Then I drove the 993 and basically bought it on the spot. I was ready to buy a 981, but I couldn't justify the buying a new 981 when the 993 was about a third of the cost!!!
My other consideration is that I am already maintaining an "old Porsche". So I figured (hope) that once I get the 993 sorted, it will cost roughly the same to maintain over time as the 986.
If I didn't drive the 981, I probably wouldn't have been looking around and another 6 years could have slipped by.

Just noticed you sold an '02 S to get into your 993, same year / model of Boxster I had lol. My advice on the 993 for what its worth:
-Use Rennlist as your resource (pay the $18 yearly charge if you want, not necessary but good karma imo), the guys there are great as long as you are cordial, if not they'll let you know quickly.
-buy a copy of the "993 Essential Companion" Amazon.com: Porsche 993 Essential Companion: Office Products
-Hold off on modding until you've thoroughly researched, keep all removed stock parts.
-Use Sunset Porsche in Oregon for OEM part purchases, great people and prices.
-Use FD Motorsports for other purchases, also great people and bend over backwards to help out.
For me the best / most worthwhile mods done:
-New Bilstein HD Suspension with MO33 Springs, lowered the car and transformed the handling, I didn't know how worn out the original suspension was. Install Walrod bushings in the front control arms also if doing this.
-FD Motorsports Fister Stage 2 exhaust, nice growl without any hint of drone.
-HID headlight kit 35 Watt from DDM Tuning
-CocoMats floor mats, very cool looking and indestructible Welcome To Cocomats.com
