You'll want to make sure that the tabs on the sides of the radio are out before reinstalling - hence, the keys need to come out before reinstallation.

I had to wiggle the keys around quite a bit until I was able to get the keys to disengage the tabs. Take your time and you'll find the sweet spot.

The same will be true about the reinstall. There is a certain angle that the radio has to be at for it to slide in all the way, if you're even slightly off then the radio will only go in 2/3's of the way and be stuck there. Again, take your time and slightly tilt the radio up and down to find the exact right angle and you'll be home free.
