Yes, I did. I had CCFLs to begin with, but was not happy with the dead spot. While playing with the tube in order to get the dead spot either on top or bottom, I broke one, so went with LEDs.

Broken

LEDs are a bit "spotty" in broad daylight, but more even in low light(overcast, dusk, etc). I'm thinking of adding a white filter to further help distribute the light and eliminate the LED "spots".

Low light with LEDs

Either way has its downsides, but I settled on LEDs.

I am so jealous of this mod!! and I have Litronics!!

I love the way they look like the Terminator robot. Much closer to the look of the Le Mans GT1

I would love to go with white LED's but just a little fact. While they look pretty good while lit up, the white LED's are yellow when they are not lit and in my humble opinion look horrible in the daylight. So until they invent a white LED that is white while it's off.....I'll stick with the CCFL's. I've seen every trick in the book to hide the yellow and it still shows through, even with diffusers.

Hmmm...now that you mention it, I do remember reading that. I made my own halos so I'm not sure how the manufactured LEDs would look through the diffusers I have, but I can't really see any yellow in mine, though I can make out the individual LEDs. I did mount them as far back in the diffusers as possible, though. They are about 8mm from the diffuser lens, which may help hide the yellow.
I would think that a semi-transparent white filter would help

Looks better with the defuser as you get a complete ring of light and the dimmer areas between the LED's is less noticable.

If that individual LED ring had twice as many LEDs I think visually you would not see a gap either. But it would be very bright unless you could dim the LED's a bit.

Could this be done on the existing LED headlights that nobody (but me) likes?
