Form my past experience, I too would recommend you NOT work with the other insurance company and only work with your own insurance agent. They should settle your claim with you directly. You will have to pay the deductible, but when they settle with the other insurance company you will be reimbursed. Not only is this the quickest way to be back on the road with your new(er) Boxster but it is also much less painful. In time, money, and mental anguish.

I am sorry for your loss and hope it works out for the best. The only other thought I have is if your insurance is insufficient and you have to settle for less than full value or replacement for your car is to either consider a layer (if you have the bucks for it) or do it yourself via small claims court. You can sue for damages and anything your insurance company couldn't collect. You can obtain a lien on property and even sell it to settle your loss if the court finds in your favor. Small claims court is not expensive and doesn't require a lawyer. It is not difficult or expensive to serve someone either. And if they wind up in court, there is also a good chance the judge will revoke her privilige to drive.
