the small number of Prius on the road pales in comparison to the number of non-replaceable Apple Ipad and Iphone batteries that end up getting tossed by the hundreds of millions. Especially when they deliberately design the product to be obsolete or difficult to upgrade by anyone other than an expert for prolonged use.

No .. for me there's really nothing else out there that can replace the Boxster ( mid engine / rwd / drop top ) even at 3-4 times the value of my 2001 S ( roughly 50-60k ) except for a newer Boxster.

I'm keeping this one for a few more years and then upgrading to an Ariel Atom .. just waiting for my driving skills to improve a bit ( okay .. ALOT .. LOL ) before making the purchase.

My 924S makes a good a winter car, makes me smile this time of the year while the Boxsters and Turbo hibernate....

I own a higher mileage boxster 2.7 so it crosses my mind sometimes with all the maintenance costs and prices of gas but there is not a more thrilling ride for the price. The boxster just makes you feel so confident in you're driving because it's so damn easy to drive. it's like playing a video game it does exactly what you tell it to.

that being said I do miss my VW Jetta 1.8T with gt28rs big turbo swap because the feeling of boost gives me a rush but there is nothing in the same price range fast enough in a straight line to make me want to sacrifice the handling of my box

the only compromise that comes close is a used WRX... but come on... Porsche for a Subie??? I think not
