Finally, clear side markers!

First of all, I appreciate all the help I've been given through this forum. I finally replaced the orange side markers with some clear ones I found at Suncoast. I've also placed a carbon license plate holder and some black center caps on the tires. I'm dreaming about carbon fibers mirrors and side air vents but they appear to be a little too expensive.

Any other advice or potential modifications for my Boxster?

Thanks,

Justin R.

For so cheap and easy to install, I have never seen anything produce such an improvement in looks as the clear side markers.

Wow, I like those clear side marker! How hard is that to do? It's not something I can do (I was pretty impressed with myself when I changed my valve stem caps) but does it seem like the dealer would charge a lot?

Also liking the wheel caps, is that difficult?

Can anybody tell me where to buy these things? I am well practiced at purchasing things.

Very cool results all around!

its very easy to do.
you just pull it out, twist the lamp, and put the new one.
the side marker is held in place by a tab on one end, and a metal clip on the other.
it is just a matter of taping it to lock in place.
assuming you own a 986, this is the part you will need:
Amazon.com: porsche boxster side marker.

edit: just noticed you own a 09.
this is the part:

Meir-- that's awesome, I'm thinking I could do that!

Wouldn't that freak everyone out?

I'm not sure if my 2009 is a 986 or a 987. I'm leaning toward 986.2, because of all the changes Porsche made in 2009.

Thanks for the number info, Meir!

But, yeah, it would freak out everyone at my house. Which means I must do it.

Your wife is a saint for helping you work on your car, don't let her go!

Yes, easy fit plug and play.
In the UK we don't have permanent amber side lights, ours are off until you turn your indicator on then they flash in time with the other indicators.

Thanks for the positive comments.

I'm a complete noob and I was able figure theses out with a little help (side markers) from my father in law. My car is a 2009 Boxster Non-S. Stupid question coming: What does de-ambered mean?

Thanks,

Justin R.

de-ambered is basically removing any sign of amber color from your car.
unless your name is JD, and then it has all different meaning.

The first 986 models all had amber coloured indicator lenses, and they changed these to clear light clusters on the face lift model and a lot of owners bought the new clear lights to "de-ambered" them.
However they did have an internal amber cover inside the light cluster for the indicators that you could see if you caught the Boxster in a certain angel and light on it.

sorry about the Grandson, that's his preferred seat in the Boxster and it is the best photo where you can see the amber lens cover inside the light cluster on a 986 face lift to get rid of this someone called it "Amberectomy" I did an "How to" on our UK forum.

Link here if you are planning on doing it.

Question Just wondering??????

Why do posters almost always distort or block out their license plate numbers when posting car photos on a forum???

The car is used on public streets, right? Don't people see it all the time on the streets?

If anyone would like to know my license plate number, I'll be glad to post it here. Without loosing any sleep.
