The first 986 models all had amber coloured indicator lenses, and they changed these to clear light clusters on the face lift model and a lot of owners bought the new clear lights to
"de-ambered" them.
However they did have an internal amber cover inside the light cluster for the indicators that you could see if you caught the Boxster in a certain angel and light on it.

sorry about the Grandson, that's his preferred seat in the Boxster and it is the best photo where you can see the amber lens cover inside the light cluster on a 986 face lift to get rid of this someone called it
"Amberectomy" I did an "How to" on our UK forum.
