Wheel upgrade from 16in to 17in

I feel my 1997 Box looks a little under wheeled with the original 16in rims. Does anyone have standard Porsche 17in rims on their car? Is it a straight forward exchange? Also does anyone have some pics to show how it looks??

Thanks.

The majority of 986's in the US were sold with 17" wheels and there are probably several hundred, if not a few thousand, pictures of cars with 17" wheels posted here on the forum. Here is my car with 17" silver and 17" black wheels:

My 1999 Boxster came with the 17 inch turbo twist wheels. The owners before me never missed a curb, all four wheels had significant damage.
I've found it easier & cheaper to buy replacement 17 inch wheels & tires off craigslist.
I just put on factory 17 inch wheels from a 2000 or 2001 model, slightly different from the turbo twists I had. They came with brand new tires and I paid $420 for the wheels and tires.

You should be able to find factory 17 inch wheels without much trouble and relatively cheap.

Good Luck

@Skrapmot,

How did you get those "turkeys" to pose for the shot…or were they running away from 'buckshot'?

@Dgrange,

You could always go chrome. They are a PITA, but sure do bring a smile when they bling!

Here are my 17"s

Price & availability of rubber and rims seems to go up considerably at 18"+
