If my car starts when I go to get her this weekend and I can extricate myself from domestic bliss, I am in!

The ounce of prevention

Got my 2004 Boxster S Anniversary Edition out of winter storage week before last and got it over to my local indie for last week while I was out of town.

They did the LN Engineering single row pro IMS bearing retrofit, and the RMS. The buggy is at 96k, bearing was the OEM Porsche bearing and looked ok but had noticeable movement in the bearing shaft.

Also replaced the heater core which had been corroded and leaking coolant (for some time, they say), fogging the inside of the windows. originally CA car, now in the midwest, 14 year old heater core wasn't up to it I guess.

Anyway, love these guys: BT Racing in Evanston, IL. Very communicative, sent photos throughout the process, put in the air filter and clear side blinkers that I brought them as well.

Very excited now for better weather, a thorough cleaning and top protection and the summers' car events!

Where have you been all my life Part 2.

First coolant flush and fill with a Uview 550000 Airlift. That was almost too easy. Well worth the money IMHO. And the time savings is significant also. Times 2 cars, a no brainer for me.

Drove it, top down, for the first time in a couple of weeks. Still feels like a new car.

sunny day drive!

My Boxster & I took advantage of a warm sunny day and went for a nice long drive along the muddy Maumee river, stopping just long enough to snap a quick pic at a small park along the way. The roads following the river are about the only ones in my part of the world that aren't laid out like a checkerboard. A great way to enjoy the weather!

Tried installing new springs, but couldn't get the old hat off the first strut. Gave up after exhausting everything short of a torch, and decided to deal with it another time, probably with new struts all around.

Reassembled everything, finished my fender liner vent project, cleaned off the studs, applied antisieze, mounted my wheels (including two new rear tires) and put it down on the ground.

Turned it over a couple times with the fuel pump relay pulled, then fired it up! I expected a big cloud of smoke, but didn't get any this time. Drove it up and down the street then re-torqued the wheels. I'll probably take it out somewhere today.

Parked next to a 911 Turbo and enjoyed all the cars (unfortunately not the best weather today so we stuck to the parking garage.

Finished replacing my clutch and brakes. track season is 2 weeks away for me. Going to Pocono North. I have a new aero rear bumper Oil cooler with fans in the trunk. I cleared some of the aluminum away from the vents on the aero bumper to get hot engine air out of the engine bay. Put my engine fan on a switch.

After burning half a tank in the sunshine, got my $2.00 lock nut in the mail and fixed an aggravating heat shield rattle. Car sounds 100% better now! (The simple things....)

Finished the magnaflow muffler tailpipe cut, weld, and paint. Swapped out drivers side rear FSD for a guaranteed replacement FSD. Oil change and LN engineering spin on oil filter.
Also removed rear compensating plates for 6mm more drop.

I drove it down to Orlando and back from SC for a business trip this weekend, 700 mile trip, 2 tanks of gas, ran perfect- just turned over 43k miles(not bad for a '97- really wanted to leave the hard top home but i knew rain was in the forecast and glad i had the hard top on it! horrible bad rain storm on I95 from Jax to the SC boarder!! but dry as a bone and no issue, sure like the traction of the new Michelin Pilot Sport all weather tires! no hydroplaning even in heavy rain. sure glad i put the Rain-X on before i left.
while in Orlando i parked next to a very nice '70 914/6 with GT body work and a 3.2 conversion, beautiful car- paint was almost identical to my Artic silver ( may have been Carerra Silver.
