It was time for my annual rattlecan refurbish. Gold is the new bronze. And now the look matches their weight! (replicas)

I bought this engine for $2,800 to replace the one I broke (oil filter full of metal). Hope to drop it in in the next few weeks.

Saturday got the wheels back from the shop. Washed and waxed. This morning tried my hand, first attempt, at the pinstripe. Yeah, dusty... just cleaned the edge as it was aa practice run... but the technique worked. This weekend I'll have my wife assist, and cover all 4.

The Stripe-it-All tool worked great, after I figured it out. Took just myself 2 minute for the practice wheel. I figure the red stripe will boost the HP about 2. Per wheel.

The car is Arctic Silver with the red interior.

What color stripe would you go with?

Who is not a fan of pin striping the wheels?

Cheers!

New MAF is coming tomorrow, so I'll do it all again. Today, a tune up, I hope. Getting pretty hot here in the afternoons. & this week, replacing my worn out metro blue carpeting with some much less worn black.
Good luck on replacing them - I just did it about a month ago. It's not incredibly hard, but the rears are a PITA. Just take your time and use the right tools. I haven't driven the car yet since I have been replacing other parts of the suspension, but my old ones were really mushy - I could push them down easily with my hands.

Welp, I've started down the hipster motor oil path. Put in some Joe Gibbs BR40 for the week, then will be switching that for DT40 after the recommended break-in period. I know it's probably a ripoff, but whatever, it's not that much more than my normal oil.

Car is almost frighteningly smooth & quiet at idle with this stuff.

Where have you been all my life?

Just finished my first brake fluid flush with a Motive Pro power bleeder. What a joy to use. No more yelling back and forth and crazy fast. Well worth the $80. And it came with a catch bottle that has a magnet on it. Worked flawlessly.

If I remember correctly, my indie wanted +/- $375 per car. I can do both cars for under $120.

New tyres. A little wider at the front with 225/45-17 instead of 205/50 in the hopes of a little less understeer and better braking. Still 255/40-17 in the rear.
Michelin PS2, as it should be.

Those are awesome. I just got one to do my 924's clutch master/slave, already one of my best tool purchases. Night and day compared to the cheap harbor freight one I had before - it actually does what it's supposed to do!

Dropped it off at the auto body shop this morning - A Ford F150 backed into it while it was parked. Looks like big foot sat on the hood. :ah:

I've used the cheap HF one, the secret is to lube the tube with silicone grease so that it seals on the bleeder. It actually worked pretty well on the complicated brake system on my 02 Prius. It's a half assed 3rd world approach, but seems to work well--been driving the car in question for almost a year since replacing the brake booster pump & the brakes are nor mal!

I bought a set of speed bleeders for the Porscha from our friends at Pelican. Since what ever I do it is without a second set of hands, I hope they work. One of these days. . . They need the new wear sensor installed and they DO need bleeding. & flushing!

My current project from our "Are you crazy" file. I actually got stopped by an anal retentive cop the other day, "Beautiful car, did you know that your right turnsignal (clear not amber) is flashing white? That's a $125 fine in AZ (not really, but it serves the story) no ticket, but get it fixed, Please. Holy carp! "PLEASE?"

So I came home, and sho' nuff, the yellow coating had peeled off the bulb. So I ordered a beam type 1156 amber bulb, 2 of 'em from Amazon. And while I was spending money, a white set too for the back up lamp as well as the 50w6 ohm things.

Well they look so nice, white with focused beams that I ordered more, including a hundred bucks worth of H7 led headlites. Holy carp, I say. I went donkey bonkers craggie! Every exterior bulb is gonna be LED.

They do look awfully nice, tho.

Today I installed a new battery, since my old one wouldn't take a charge. I went with a group 47 instead of the 48. I wanted a smaller battery, but didn't want to fab my own brackets. This one bolts right in.

Item number 4, out of 10 or so, on my list of things to do before I can get it on the road this spring. PCA rally is coming up on the 29th!

I worked on audio system upgrade. Finished dash speaker components all mounted and tested.

Installing hertz mille 3 way system. Dash 3” mid and seperate tweeter. Used cai adaptor ring for 3” the tweeter became a pain. Ended up make 4 small holes in grill frame used 2 wire ties to make straps, then cut the head off 2 more to slide down to hold in place, 3rd around just to keep things sung and some electrical tape to seal around edges. Not ellegant put affective and out of site.

Ran speaker connections for tweeters to head unit, they will use the amp from the head unit. Mids currently running off stock porsche amp. Did a test with new head unit even not being tuned or having the low frreq outputs connected dystem already sounds much better.

Finishing door boxes for 6.5” speakers this week and finishing conectoons for replacment amp.

Yesterday did an oil and filter (w/ housing) change. Figured replacing the filter housing was a no-brainer considering it was $3 via our host than an OE filter, and 14 years newer.

Good news is that the element (inside and out) was clean (1193xx miles).

Drove to Parker's Maple Barn in Mason, NH for a late, humongous, breakfast. Cool, in the 30's, so the top stayed up.
