The pictures don't do it justice. Looks a lot nicer in person. I'm shocked.

Wow - impressive.

You changed dash and door cards too?

Keep up the great work

Thanks

Previous owner (JAAY) changed the dash and door panels from black to Boxster Red and mixed up sections from both to make them two-tone, which I think looks awesome. Seats were base black and fading though and I thought it needed more color at the rear (plus I reaaaally wanted sports seats), so I found those trashed sports seats and had them recovered. The whole upgrade including the buying the sports seats and the upholstery works was only $350 after I sold the base seats

gotcha - appreciate full explanation too as you had me VERY concerned there when you mention JAAY and seats as that car was always impeccable. Even better now w/ seat redo you had done.

Enjoy

I rebuilt my half shafts. Cleaned out all the old grease with paper towels and a parts washer, regreased the cv joints and installed new boots. Then after it was all back together, degreased it again. A very satisfying job. Today, I'm going to remove the crossmember behind the engine, lower the car off the jackstands, and disconnect everything in the engine compartment so I can pull the engine and tiptronic.

Yee Haw
I got to drive the box 2 days in a row, a couple hundred miles each day.
It was like driving on the salt flats of Bonneville
Each day I had to take it over to the local pressure washer car wash and rinse off the road salt

I "installed" door sills. $40 out the door, eBay. 2+ hours removing the 3M HD double sided tape, prepping, affixing new like tape, and installing. However...

I'm not driving an "S". I couldn't pass up the deal to hide all the existing touch up paint and scuffs.

I considered using a black magic marker to hide the S.

Thoughts?

I know. First world problems.

Some updates on my Boxster prototype tribute

Here are a couple of pics of things I've been working on recently, response to the article in Pano and finding the correct wheels has inspired me to go a little further down the prototype road. In January I'm going to be taking a metal forming class to learn how to make the side scoops and weld up the original side vents(the one shown is just a practice piece to learn how much I don't know about metal shaping). I also added some Rennsport track mats and OMP aluminum pedals, I'll try to remember to post pics as the project moves forward .

Be very careful about the low vents from the prototype. You will suck in water spray from the front wheels and all kinds of other gunk that will clog your air filter, or worse.

There's a good reason why they moved them higher in the production model.

They are from Rennline . These are called track mats, they are made of brushed stainless,I had them wrapped in flat clear paint wrap before I used them to protect them from scratches. I also bought their dead mans pedal. They make lots of cool goodies checkout their website!
