Stopped by a pumpkin patch on the way home from a road trip.

First oil change at 4000 miles since purchase. My filter and magnet looked good, no metal or plastic bits. Refilled with 0-40w Mobile 1.

Just did the same. Was nice to have an easily accessible filter and drain plug...quickest oil change I've done in awhile.

It was pretty easy, my miata filter was hard to reach and messy.

I took the same 100k miles pic in my 2004 986S. Sadly, 6 months later my IMS failed. Tell me you haven't bought into the "if it's good at 30k it will be good for 230k" myth.

Nope. I had the IMS done along with the clutch and RMS when the car hit 85,000 KM last year. Peace of mind is worth every penny.

And the replacement engine that went into my S got a new IMS and RMS when it got installed.

I got my California SMOG done and was amused watching the young guys look in the Trunk and Frunk for the engine.

After realizing it was located in the mid section and they had no idea how to open that section up, they just gave up on that part. Not sure what they would do in there anyway.

As per the new SMOG rules they just plug in to the computer and read the codes. If no engine light is on you already know you are going to pass. No tailpipe sensing required.

2nd Cat deletes and all it still passes with flying colors.

I do feel a like $60 for literally 5 minutes of tech time is high. Most of the 15 minutes time now is spent me filling out their form and paying.

Smile What did you do with/to your Boxster today?

Added about 3/4ths of a gallon of coolant. No leaks so no idea why it needed it but, noticed the coolant light blinking on my way to work this morning so, checked and hey, the tank is empty... Also gave her a bath

A mystery like that would bug me and I would have to know WHY the coolant was gone from the tank.

Did you have the car in for service recently?

Perhaps your coolant tank has a crack, its a very common occurrence on our Boxsters as the plastic ages and becomes more brittle.

Check for wet carpet in the trunk near the tank or a puddle by the rear passenger side tire under the car.

Left the Boxster in the garage and drove the minivan to work. Later on today I will clean up a caliper I scrapped paint off when mounting wheel. Sand and then touch up paint, add decal and clear again.

Nope, no recent service. Bought the car in July and she's been garaged most of that time since. Coolant tank is solid, no yellowing and no leaks in the trunk. Likely the PO didn't take good care as there are no service records at all after the original owner bought the car in January of 2002. Has the new cap, no liquid in the trunk. My guess, is that I'm the first to drive her like a Porsche. I expect to have to replace the water pump and other items before too long. My Truck has gone through 2 water pumps, a transmission and suspension so, I expect to be dealing with all of those in the coming year or so. She's my weekend driver so, not a lot of road time with me.

I just bought an extra muffler from a '98 to modify. It was dirt cheap and hasn't been used since 2004. I'm also trimming the fachsia for fitting my new Android head unit.

That's only 62,000 miles...that's nothing! You've barely broken it in!

In honor of the last day of Summer, I drove mine to work today and put the top down for the 60 mile ride home. I got a picture in my driveway right at sunset when I got home-

Very True! But still cool seeing the odometer flip from 099999 to 100000.
