These are just the stock S model wheels from 2003. 17x7 front and 17 x 8.5 rear.

I went for a drive.
I have owned a Miata for years. For those of you who don’t know when Miata was first introduced there was the “Miata Wave”. When people spotted another Miata on the road you would pop-up (open) your headlights. Then when the newer NB and NC came along guys would simply wave, but it is still called the Miata Wave.
Well I live in a small town and have never seen another Boxster.
So today was a beautiful top down day and as I was driving down a twisty Arkansas road I passed a Boxster driven by a beautiful young girl going the opposite direction and she waved. Made me feel good to see another Boxster and it made me feel good to have her wave and it made me feel young. I may be old enough to be her grandmother, but today we were both enjoying the beautiful weather and amazing Boxster.

Perfect weather in Melbourne today (24) was king of the road until I stopped for lunch when I was joined by a new 911 turbo Cabrio.

Consolation was he paid 10 times more for his car than I paid for my 2003 2.7 for pretty much the same driving experience.(well almost)

The car is going better and better after 7 months and 5000 kms usage, did 190 kms today,

After spending 5 weeks on vacation in southern Africa we picked up FunToy from the indie that we had bought it from. He had it while we were away to do some minor warranty warranty work. We took it for a drive to chinese dinner to maximize enjoyment before it goes into winter hibernation. Looks like we will have a couple more weeks of good fall weather so more trips. Wish we lives in Florida instead of Massachusetts!

This weekend I have to erect the garage she will sleep in.

Installed a new top. Six hours from start to finish. Combined several sets of instructions and used my son-in-law to help. Few small wrinkles, but much nicer look than the faded tan top with the window that was falling out. See profile pic for before look.

Those are 17" Boxster S II wheels (2003/2004)

Not positive, but if I recall correctly from some AutoX conversations I think they are some of the lightest stock 17 wheels.

I recall reading the optional Box II wheels are 4.5 lbs each lighter than the standard 17" wheels.

I like mine, but they are a bit harder to keep clean.

Me too, sort of, new rotors and pads on all 4 corners and brake flush, I'm still on ATE Type 200 "Super Gold", and my track weekend is the following weekend. It will be nice to not be sweating the whole time due to the heat here in FL.

Also solved an odd pinging/scraping noise, it was the LCA/tie rod ball joint heat shield behind the rotor, I must have bent it when installing the Koni FSD and it was scraping a high spot/pad deposit on my old rotor. I bent it back and it is blissfully silent now. And now that I see this picture up close, I need to clean my calipers, dang.

I don't know but it is freaky close... I guess to hold the pad in place if you run it down to the very end and it is super skinny at that point?

Well I had a 3 day weekend with Veterans' Day and got a lot done on my Boxster.

My Nine8Six projector headlight conversion is finished. I had a lot of help on this, not sure if I would have been able to do it on my own. They came out fantastic. My car is seal grey, so I went with the Gun Metal Turismo series with white Angel Eyes and the 4300k lights, no painting of the reflectors or interior of the lights. My car is an 03 with no amber on the exterior of the turn signals, but the interior amber was removed.

So after putting in the transformed headlights, I decided after 13 years it was finally time to go with clear/smoke side marker lights.

With the headlights and side marker lights out of the way, the next thing on the list was installing Ben006's ball bearing short shifter. Getting the console in and out was the toughest part, but it wasn't a bad job at all. I like the new, firm and short shifts, but it will take some time to get used to!

Then, finally, it was time to install my hard top for the winter.

With that smug feeling of satisfaction, I got into the car and started it, to go out and pick up dinner. The ignition key felt kind of weird, like something inside snapped. The headlights wouldn't come on, although the parking lights and angel eyes did. Also the seat heaters no longer worked. All of these things worked fine after all the other work I did. The key is hard to remove, it doesn't return to the "normal" off position, and the chime goes off when the door is open, even though the key is out of the lock. I can still start and shut off the car. I believe the electrical switch portion of the ignition lock broke, so now I have a project for next weekend! And having read up on this, I ordered two switches and will keep a spare in the car. If this happened at work and I had to drive home in the dark it would have been a real problem!

Today at 12.15 am I went into the garage to check the car , hoping that nothing had fallen on it .We had a massive earthquake centered just 50 KM from here , a 7.8 magnitude . It really did shake things up .My house and Boxster are all ok though . We had another 6.6 just a few moments ago .Apart from that it's a nice day!!
