I washed it and then failed to do an oil change. I got motul 8100 and a filer wrench from amazon. Got it up onto the ramps, opened my amazon box, and realized that the filter and filter wrench were being shipped separately....

Yes, the toll bar clips can be replaced. A piece of plastic broke on my mounting clip. A kit is available at Pelican that contains the two clips for the roll bar and the tab for the base of the windscreen. It also contains rivets for attaching. I had previously also replaced one of the lever clips on the windscreen itself because it broke off. I still haven't figured out to get the windscreen on and off properly.

Finally got around to cleaning the radiators. Perhaps a bit past due.

Brake lights were out so I pulled out the brake light switch and gave it a good cleaning and BINGO I had brake lights again. Then I took it for a long drive down the beach.

Brake/clutch fluid flush, changed air/cabin filters, topped up ps fluid, lubed the clamshell, and FINALLY installed the US size cigar lighter socket.

The bad news - I see one of my rear struts is leaking. Damn thing only lasted 135000km. I suppose my options are 1) buy a good used strut, 2) replace both rear struts with new, 3) replace all four struts, 4) ROW M030 kit. There's a decision that was already made ages ago.

Bought an AFE air filter last year and finally got around to installing it today. After opening the engine bay, the usual dusty mess stared back at me. Since it was right in front of me and wasn't going to go away by itself, I hit it with a mixture of Simple Green and QuicknBrite cleaner. Used a 3" paint brush to scrub all the surfaces, then rinsed it with the garden hose. Sure looks a lot better now.

Checked the drains while I had it opened up. Water drained out just fine, but I could see something stuck in the upper section of the drains just below the foam tray on both sides. Fished these out with a pair of needle nose pliers. Some PO or mechanic is probably still looking for that torx bit.

Took my '99 986 on four parade laps around Laguna Seca. I was fourth behind the pace 911 and there were 96 Porsches behind me so the pace car punched it and those of us in the front got to get some speed up. Normal parade lap speed is around 35-40 mph and normal parade laps are two but since there were 100 cars on the track the front group got up to spoiler up speed. Woohoo! Pics are from the grid.

Noticed Outside Temp Sensor had fallen out of its clip and was way down in the bottom of front bumper...re-installed in proper location, now the temp no longer reads 40 degrees too high!!! Now it agrees with Weather Channel app.

Lubed "clutch pedal spring" under dash--no more squeak!!

Took apart accelerator pedal assembly. Lubed the two ball joints inside it-- no more "sticky" accelerator!!!

Had the dent doctor come to the house and remove a few small dings. $75 well spent to keep her looking good.
