New Porsche Boxster owner and new member. Picked my car up from the shop yesterday after purchasing it a week or so ago. Needed some work based on the ppi. Mainly brakes (pads and rotors) and ignition coils. I also chose "some" elective preventative maintenance procedures (I.e. clutch, imsb, rms, aos). Drove it home in a rainstorm but still had a blast. Top down driving today what a great car! 03 boxster s black on black 76k miles. I am still not sure about the decals on the sides but will keep them for a while and decide later. They have grown on me quite a bit since I first saw the car. Shop said they can remove them very easily if I change my mind.

I like it Myoung73! Sounds like you removed half the fun which is working on it! You have the critical items addressed... IMSB ! Did the shop give you the old bearing? If so how did it look. Enjoy the ride!

Taking her in for IMSB upgrade and RMS. Lead mechanic is at Porsche school all of next week so I will not have the Box for two weeks. Well worth the wait since, reading all the grenaded engine posts resulting from IMSB, I will finally get peace of mind!

Thanks! Yea I wanted to get the work done for peace of mind. They didn't give me the bearing (I should have asked) but I did ask he said it looked fine. Oh well u never know until you take it out anyway and from what I have learned they can look fine one day and fail the next. Plus it was getting time for a clutch anyway. The car is awesome, fast, handles on rails and just so much fun to drive. I am so excited. Also many thanks to this forum as I did quite a bit of research here first! I hope to start doing projects on my own with the help of the amazing community here!

Started off just changing the belt, there was a slight sound from the idler hubs, removed them to replace the bearings but could not find any in the city on a Saturday. Went old school, removed the bearing seals and re packed the bearings with high temp grease. After reassembly, belt is quite. No problems after a 200 mile drive this afternoon.

Changed the oil and filter... no metal in filter, YAY!

Replaced the seals on the spark plug tubes... For the second time.

After topping up the power steering fluid I accidentally dropped the drivers sidetop ball retaining clip down the drain.
Made a new one out of some thin stainless welding rod.

Also washed, waxed, and rainexed.

Used the mothers kid to restore my headlights. The process removed the yellow and cleared them up very well.

Looks good cardiffgiant. I used the mothers kit to restore my headlights too, but I also used Dupli-Color's headlight sealer uv protectant. Mothers is better for the restore than the Dupli-Color, but the headlight protectant is much better in the Dupli-Color kit. You might look into getting it, to protect your headlights better.

I did use a protectant from a different brand. I don't recall if it was duplicolor. I had the same concern. The Mothers kit has everything that you need to eliminate deeper imperections, but then leaves the plastic exposed to UV.

If the sealant that I used was something different, I'll grab some of the duplicolor. while the process was veyr smooth, I'm not eager to do it again any time soon.

It's just as easy to use as they show in the video. You would have to work hard at messing it up, just make sure there isn't a bunch of dust around.

Sunday AM we took off for Spirit Lake on Mt. St. Helens. About a 240 mile round trip from home. Great roads (many curves very light traffic in the morning, a few partial washouts that cause some fun whoop de doos) Seeing the very slow recovery of the mountain makes this my favorite route to see St. Helens. If you are in the area you must do this ride.

Clay barred the body and glass- amazing results. Followed up with Black Wax. I highly recommend the claying process- gonna do my golf cart next.
