The dealer quoted $500 to replace 6 spark plugs. The cost of spark plugs are $30 each and the rest is labor. I may just do the job myself. Can anyone tell me what spark plug I need? Nothing fancy. Just a good OEM replacements.

I have a 2007 Boxster S w/3.4L engine. Thanks.

By the way, I have searched this site, but most folks here have 2001 and older cars, 986 models, and 2.5/2.7 engines. Couldn't find any recommendations based on my model and year car.

Hell, for half what the dealer is charging you, I'll drive up to TN and even change them out for you.

OEM is 10.50 from pelican. it's certainly a DIY. put the car in the air and remove the wheels to make it easier. i did it myself a few years ago.

It's a simple DIY, just did it. He's trying to make about 600+/hour labor on you as it should take someone with a lift and the right tools MAYBE 40 minutes at the very most... as said prior about an hour doing it yourself. That is simple robbery

I have a 2001 and access to a lift how do I go about changing them and what should they be gapped at ? Thanks

Another Spark Plug DIY (for dummies)

essentially:
1. put the car in the air
2. remove the back wheel(s)
3. using an allen bit, remove the 2 bolts on the coil packs, remove the coil packs
4. remove the spark plug
5. install new plug (30 Nm, no anti-seize (according to some))
6. replace coil pack (10 Nm on the bolts)
repeat for each plug (there are obviously 6)

they should come "pre-gapped" no need to adjust. if you drop one (like i did) the proper gap is (i believe) .028
