47 YO. Own and run an Executive recruiting company specializing in software sales and marketing execs nationwide.

Second Boxster - first was some 12 years ago, bought new and returned via Lemon Law. Went through two BMW M3 conv (loved them but wanted a Boxster again). Found a perfect MY2000 here locally and stole it from the guy so here I am again.

MY DD is a MY2000 Honda Insight (all stock)-getting between 60-85mpg... looks like an egg but damn it feels good getting 600-800 miles per tank with only 10 gallons!

57 YO Retired CATV Platform Specialist. Took early retirement on April 1, 2012 and left the Cable Co in Toronto after 38 years of service. Started after I left the Canadian Military ... still looking for a career Charter member of the KMA Club (Kiss My A$$)

Had a 1986 951 for 7 years then upgraded to the Beepster when one came into friends Indy P-Car shop (HPCARS) two years ago; cheap, paid $500 more than P-Car boneyard offered. He had the engine rebuilt for me as the PO had overfilled the crankcase with 4 extra litres of oil and now I have a nice ride. Many do not believe it's a 2002 S ....

Other ride is a 2010 F-150 FX4 Luxury, short box SCREW.

14' Smokercraft w/25HP Mercury

I am turning 51 soon. Have wanted a Porsche since age 10. It has ALWAYS been a goal. I am goal driven!

The group I worked with in DFW purchased around 100+ homes per month (that's $15 million per month for those without a calculator)! That was myself and about 10 people…that is all it takes! Housing bubble my foot….try political/financial GREED - they are after more $$$. Want to solve housing? Repeal Dodd-Frank and let us work "people to people" without greedy banks who are not making loans to REAL PEOPLE! Housing would be back on track. We don't need a President to do that, we just need to reel in greedy folks in DC.

For 11 years I have bought houses from people in trouble, lots of them and used to Owner Finance them to people with less than perfect credit. I WAS YOUR LENDER! We were buying 10+ homes per month…until Congress passed Dodd-Frank. Shortly after that…we have a "housing crisis", you DO THE MATH! Congress put companies like ours out of business! There almost no investors left, is it any wonder homes are not selling?

I am a true one in a million and a million to one story. It took 11 years to build up a 1.7M net worth and only a couple years to fall down to nothing. I was NOT RICH at a million either! Contrary to popular belief and the current tax debate. I was paying $60,000 a year in Property Taxes ALONE! So now SOMEONE IS paying more TAX that I used to pay! Add title company fees, realtors, rehabbers, etc. I felt like I was supporting the whole economy…I guess I was! Now Congress wants 3.8% on home sales? WRONG!

My goal was to be a millionaire, my reward was a Porsche. Tried a 911, wrecked it in a block (Armour All by the dealer on TOP of the tires-another story in which English was a second language) wadded it up on a curb. Took a couple turns in the Box and I was smitten!

Now, we have one house and are barely paying our bills. Gotta LOVE THAT CHANGE IN AMERICA! The "CHANGE" is all that is left in your pocket!

Sorry about the rant…but people ought to know what is REALLY going on here. This may not be the place for it, but the question was asked.

Now my profession is…working on my Porsche! Soon to be a WalMart greeter - what a waste of talent! But you gotta put gas in the car to have fun! BTW I am NOT bitter, I will FIND SOMETHING to do…maybe.

First post... love the forum.

Judging from prior entries, I am officially an Old Fart. 62, first Porsche. Just bought my 2000 S. 25K miles on the odo, and the car is in amazing condition. LOVE it! Anyway, I'm VP Marketing for a filtration company.

Past cars have included an Alfa GTV, '64 TR4 (never should have sold it), Infiniti G, a few Acuras, and several other much more ordinary vehicles.

38, CFO (fancy title, but I empty my own trash can and get my hands dirty on the production floor) of a middle market (just barely) company that makes diagnostic tests (basically any stick that gets peed on) for many if not most of the major retailers in the US.

The current stable consists of:

2002 986 S with 53K on the clock.
2005 Mini Cooper S 78K on the clock (GF's ride)
1998 Lex GS400 with 208K on the clock (most reliable machine I've ever owned, simply bullet proof). My DD...
1973 Triumph T100R Daytona with unknown mileage (about 2000mls since my own resto in 1998)
1967 Mooney M20F (2 partners) with 3700hrs on the tach. This is the money pit of the group but it cruises at 175MPH on 10gals per hour...

This is the first Pcar I have owned, though I've had the pleasure of driving many over the years. I have owned a number of Audi, BMW, Merc and Volvo products in the past.
The only bad thing I will say about the 986 is that the interior is of a much lower quality than what I'm used to in a machine at this price point. Also, the IMS issue is a nail biter (but I've recently taken care of that).

The family also has a 1971 Jaguar Series III E-type V12 in the stable, but it's anyone's guess as to who is going undertake the painful resto on that one...

Just turned 51 last week. I'm an airline pilot(First Officer) for a major airline currently in bankruptcy. I've been flying since the age of 15, my mom used to drive me to the airport so I could go fly. The job is not what it used to be and no I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination. I bought a brand new RX-7 in 1983 after I graduated from college. Ended up selling it since I could not afford it as a flight instructor making a grand total of $8300 a YEAR! My first year working for an "airline" I made a grand total of $12,000 and it took me four years to break $20K. The airline business has not been kind to my finances but I still love to fly. Over the years I have owned a string of unexciting cars, trucks and mini vans I grew up watching racing as a kid and have always wanted a Porsche. I certainly can't justify new so I started out looking at used 911's. I didn't really even know about the Boxster until I started researching. I saw many comments about 911 owners wishing they hadn't sold their Boxster. I liked the Boxster pricing and once I drove one, I was bit. I absolutely love driving with the top down in this car! My other vehicle is a 2007 Toyota Tundra that is extremely reliable but is now relegated to driving to the airport and Lowes/HD. I can not imagine not owning a PCAR now

I am 32 years old, Captain in the USAF. Profession = Dentist. I will be separating from the Air Force to start my own business in the near future.

It has been my dream since I was just a just a kid to own a Porsche. I originally wanted a 2008-2010 Cayman, but I changed my mind after test-driving my 09' Boxster. This is first car I have ever purchased, my previous cars were hand me downs from my parents. I currently also own a 04' Ford Explorer with 145,000 miles and going strong. I haven't really decided which is my daily driver, the plan is to drive the Boxster once to work and on the weekends.

I researched Boxster/Cayman for months, I was very happy to get a 09' Boxster for what I payed for.

Justin
