I just replaced the top on my '03 986 with a new GAHH unit with glass (original had glass too). Visually the new top made a huge difference and the exterior now looks brand new in a way that endless waxing could not accomplish. It also helped that the previous tired looking top was tan/beige (on a gray car - blah!), and had become worn on the sides where it folds when retracted. The new top is black, which will hide such wear much better.
For anyone considering a top replacement I highly recommend the GAHH top with the glass window.
