About 3 days ago, the most gentleman-like guy I know told me he was jealous of my car. If by chick car you mean "not showing off" like a ricer Evo, that's fine by me.

The only reason I came on this thread and read through everything was to see which pic of the gorgeous chic Ekam posted!!

Chic's car? We had a chic with an '09 S at BrumosU and she was the 2nd fastest car there.
A Boxster is a driver's car, just not all owners are drivers.

Surf, what did you start here! Nothing like a chick in a boxster, I know my chick looks awesome in my 'S'!! It's a convertible...chicks look great in them! Personally, here in the bible belt, I wish I saw more chicks in Boxsters, heck more chicks in any Porsche! Just keep em clean and shiny

In general, all convertibles are seen as girly because girls like convertibles.

But to me, the Boxster is a mans car. It has the formula of a sportscar. Mid engine, aerodynamic, lightweight.

"Man's car" "woman's car" - they are just words with no solid meaning. Once again the imprecision of the human language lends itself to confusion, exploitation and cause for unnecessary anxiety among those susceptible individuals.

This person observed the fact that a higher proportion of women buy Boxsters over Caymans and 911s correctly. But did not understand the reason behind this observation. And furthered his error by trying to imply the car is not "manly" in amidst of his own confusion.

I think women buy Boxsters because:
1. Boxsters are cheaper - women still don't make as much money as men in the workforce overall.
2. Women don't care about 0-100 bragging rights as much - so the speed of the higher models isn't a huge lure.
3. The Boxster is a very good looking convertible - and more women would prefer to have pretty cars over V8s with nostrils on the bonnet.

All these are valid reasons for women preferring the Boxster. And if guys decide to buy the Boxster for similar reasons, they are just equally as valid.

Anyone who doesn't understand this is not a smart person in this regard, and their opinion on the matter warrants no further examination.

We can take pity in their lack of analytical prowess and move on.

This seemed like the most recent chick car thread....

So someone in another forum posted these two pics in discussing the fried egg lights being so uncool but the round 911 lights being cool.

uncool: LMP GT1
(racing car)

cool: chick car
(roots of the Porsche 356/911)

Hat's off to Promark420 and his post.

I personally know a woman who just bought a 2013 911. For cash (she's in finance, if that helps you). She has no hubby to split that bill with. She and I discuss autocrossing strategies. We often lament that there aren't more chicks into cars.

I am the only female member of my local PCA to have her own Porsche. I mention it to the other ladies and they look at me like I grew another head. They won't even drive their hubbies' cars.

BTW, yes, the bug is a chick's car.

I have only once seen a woman driving a Boxster. Most of the time the person driving is a white male in his late 40's to early 60's. Ditto for 911 Cabriolets... but I have seen women driving those plenty of times. And my hair dresser drives a 997 Cabriolet and his husband drives a Panamera.

On the other hand, I've seen dozens of women driving Cayennes. Today the SUV is the chick car.

p.s.
You know someone in finance who paid cash for a depreciating luxury car?

I know, right?! I tried to talk her into a used Turbo, explained that with a Porsche you pay attention to miles, not years so much, but she wouldn't budge. She has a bad knee and really wanted the PDK.

Not a fan of the Cayenne, but if you have to haul the kids to soccer, it works. Glad to see the Panamera out there, a decent alternative.

Only one woman driving a Boxster? Hmmmm . . . now that you mention it, the other Boxsters I've seen are driven by men. Go figure.

Porsches are pretty common in my neck of the woods, actually I counted five in my previous condo complex alone (2 Boxsters, 1 Cayman, 2 Cayennes). Both Cayennes were driven by women. As a matter of fact two previous women I dated both had white Cayennes. Can't name a single woman I've ever known who owned a Boxster.

But generally speaking I just don't see women driving any convertibles. They all want Range Rovers, X5's or Cayennes. To go with their Iphones, Louis Vouiton bags and UGG boots... Around here women all want to copy each other...otherwise its like they feel left out of the club.

9 Porsches in our condo.
3 Cayennes (one turbo) all driven by women
2 911's. owned by the same guy. one is 997 the other is 993
and 4 boxsters.
my 01 S. a 99 base. a 08 special addition. and an 03 S, owned by a girl.
she wanted to buy an air cooled 911, but quickly understood its not gonna be practical for here. so she got the PDK boxster.

Most women I see drive Jeep Wranglers including my wife. She has the top off all summer long, on the Jeep that is. . 33 inch tires, 3 inch lift kit, and it had to be red. When she earned her Masters degree I decided to celebrate and buy her a new car. I proposed BMW, Jag, Cadilac, or Porsche but all she wanted was a Jeep so we bought her a new red one. It worked out great for me. She won't drive my Boxster but she loves to ride in it. The jeep is fun too, in the mountains.

That is true but it took a few years. Imagine how many pages it will have in a couple more.

Funny, That is all my wife wanted for a toy vehicle. She got her Jeep Wrangler Sport last spring. Soft top all summer, Hard top Thanksgiving to April Fools Day.

Sigh . . . you have that all wrong.

It's iPhones, CHANEL bags, and Louboutins.

Geez . . .

The Miata is the classic chicks sports car.

I might be the biggest wuss of all time having a Boxster, a Mini Cooper, and a Miata in the driveway. My wife is clearly the man of the house in her BMW 325i.
