That would be humorous. I've seen others mount a magnet behind the bumper, then attach the plate to a rubber backed metal mount, so that the plate can be put on/ taken off at will, extremely easily, with no damage to paint.

It would be cool if you could just take a high resolution pic of you plate, have it transfered to a sticker and just put that on. I doubt its legal but it might not get noticed if you could use reflective paint. I know "what have I been smoking", but hey, I hated getting tickets when i owned my corvette and told the cops I will not drill a hole in my bumper. Fortunately (I think) my porsche came with it so I didn't have to cry as I desicrated my bumber with a drill.
