Dumping coolant follow up

Had my local P-car mechanic mail me a new filler cap #.03. I installed this cap and added distilled water to the reservoir. Drove around locally to bring up to temp., 1/8" over the 180 mark which has been my running temp for the last three years, and experienced no overheating or coolant dump. Cap also make a sigh when you unscrew it not unlike opening a new jar that has vacuum seal. Drove down to our regional spring event yesterday where I had inspection (passed with Stebro 2nd cat delete pipes), oil change and a compression test done on the cooling system. Test showed no loss of pressure or leakage. I am hoping that the cap alone does the trick. We are planning a trip down to Parsippany NJ next Sun. for the Zone 1 concours. That trip should tell the tale but I have more confidence in driving the car with the new cap in place. I will keep you all posted.
