Anyone else notice how the spoiler makes the "hips" on jdak's "turbo" look smaller???

Are 987 hips > 986 hips?

By the way -- I gotta have those wheels...

Cayman owners seem to spend most of their time bashing the Boxster and explaining why the Cayman is not a Boxster with a hard top. The supposed huge difference in stiffness provided by the hardtop vs. the rollbars along with the wider "hips" of the Cayman seem to be the principal arguments for Cayman superiority. If you really want to see some fireworks ask a Cayman owner why it costs more than the Boxster which is basically the same car but also a convertible. Any difference in stiffness is much less of an advantage then the "track divas" say it is. A less stiff frame is advantageous in some situations; try going over a rise into a turn with a bump on one side or the other at the apex and see which car is better at staying on line and you'll appreciate a bit more flex. The bottom line is that they are both the same car except for the roof a a minimal difference in stiffness. Personally I think the Cayman is a great car but I like the looks of the Boxster a lot more and the Cayman name seems silly to me.

I remember reading that Porsche changed the "hips" of the 987 series (Boxster AND Cayman) from the 986 - but I don't believe that there is any difference between the two 987s. They are higher and slightly more aggressive than on a 986.

I found the Cayman a bit tight for me, that could have been an illusion but it FELT like a smaller cockpit to me.

Still loved the way it looked though.

Remember, humans seem to LOVE to highlight differences in order to seem better than others, or to have better things.

That is why communism and socialism don't really work in practice. We humans love to be just a bit more equal than our buddies.
