yeah, the other thing to consider is location. most of the clean cars i was looking at were on the west coast. not too many in alabama. while i ended up buying mine elsewhere (south carolina), the difference in travel time/hassle was huge; certainly not worth the $2k that i could have potentially saved.

Folks, there's nothing wrong with paying the high end for a Boxster IF the car is pristine and has very low miles on it.

Maybe they just compile user input and publish it at regular intervals. This method of data collection may have a tendency to skew pricing data towards the lower end for two reasons:

1. The sales data would include just private-party sales and perhaps some trade ins; and
2. People might have a tendency to under-report their purchase prices due to vanity.

Personally, I wouldn't mind paying at the high end of those prices if I got a really nice car, both keys, all the manuals etc. I got a fair deal on my car, but I had to put on two new tires in about a month. So a nice car with no issues at a slightly higher price is worth the cost.

there's a fairly in depth thread over on rennlist about bruce anderson and his pricing. most people seem to think that he's started using drugs of late. the 993 crowd went nuts when he posted prices FAR below what could be found on market. people were starting to think they'd somehow get screwed if insurance companies relied on that type of data for diminished value, etc.

yes, there are two regular keys and one valet key. The valet key can't open the center console or the glove box on 03-4 models.
