19x11 wheels if some looking to go this route

Hello..just like to tell/show.. if anyone is looking/interested.. to put 19x11's on the rear's...and it has been talked about a lot on this topic for 986 owner's..but like what other members have said.... it depends on what setup/mods you have or going to have I guess..and right wheel fitting....My 986 is stock suspension other then H&R lowering springs....These wheels are Sanivi Signature.. 3 piece..19x9 front ...19x11 rear's.I do not know specs or off set etc..bought used off a Porsche turbo..tires are stretched...not a crazy stretch .... 225/35/19 front...265/30/19 rears..No spacers needed..with a 4mm gap from struts...I use car as a daily driver and there's no rubbing...I am quite surprise there isn't any rubbing..maybe if the car was lower....and some peeps might not like this look...but here is some idea's....and it works.

Nice Wheels!

Wheel Dynamics makes a set, 8.5 front, 10.5 rear. They are designed for perfect offset. The deep dish kills it for me!

Ok need suggestions for my 97 986, have the opportunity to get 19x11’s 40 offset but they aren’t staggered. Any suggestions?

any rubbing under high speed compression? Looks like the "stretch" on the sidewall will just make it clear

How’s the handling and ride? I had 19s and hated the ride plus the weight killed the handling. It looked great but went with some light weight 18s and it made a huge difference in ride quality and handling. The turn in change was transformative in my opinion.

Interesting. It was always my understanding that the larger wheel and lower profile tire always delivered superior handling, with some negative influence on ride quality and higher susceptibility to bent rims. But you're saying the 18" delivered better handling. Was the better handling solely because of the weight reduction? If both the 19" and 18" were the same weight, wouldn't the 19" handle better?

I believe you can’t (shouldn’t) run anything above 18s on the earlier cars. There is info around on it.

Interesting... mine handles like it’s on rails. However, I’ve got fairly aggressive alignment as well. Mine has only had the 19’s since I bought it, so I can’t really say anything to the comparison.

19" first became a factory option on the 987 I believe. No problem with those, right?

The suspension is different for the earlier cars. I believe it changed/was reinforced in 2000...

photos of OPs car look good. my 99 came with 19x8.5/10.5 wheels; it wasn't my style so I'm down to 18s.

are you saying you do or don't like the deep dish? mine were really deep lips like the car in your photo, and it just wasn't my style

Boxmann - the handling was likely influenced negatively b/c of heavier weight for 19" wheel/tire combo. some of the cheap 19" wheels are likely 8-10pounds heavier than factory 17" wheels.

it might help to define "handling" as a word also - are we talking turn-in? steering response? chassis dynamics on rough terrain? etc etc

I think it was only the first year 97 that you can’t run anything over 17(?) or there will be some structural issue at the back end. There are threads that address it.
