Think this can be fixed??

It's hard to tell from pictures, but I doubt the car is totaled. My opinion is that they will make you fix it.

I agree with Paul. It's been many yrs since I dabbled in the rebuilder market and this may have changed, but I believe the rule of thumb is salvage value of a car is 25% of its value. So the repair cost would need to be at least 65-70% of the value before the ins co would consider it a total loss. Hard to tell exactly how much damage was sustained but it doesn't look close to being totaled.

it looks like the frame damage is isolated to the front clip, but it's hard to tell without removing body panels. if this is the case, the front clip (entire portion in front of the windshield) can be removed and replaced with a new or used front clip. these are welded on in a jig. at any rate, this will be an expensive fix. they may or may not make you fix it. i think they will understand that the rear end of the car is not damaged and is worth a LOT when parted out. let us know.

Insurance Co. ( Allstate ) says the car is a total. I think it is complete Bull$hit. I know it can be fixed back to normal. They didn't even give me a written estimate of what would be the repair bill.

Your better off with it totaled. Even if repairable, your car would never be worth the same as the same car without an accident history (read Carfax!).

Lets be rigorous here. You clearly DON'T know that the car can be reparied "back to normal." That is the question you asked US to start this thread. If you knew the answer, why did you ask us?

Secondly, the insurance company is not interested in whether the car can be fixed as much as what the most cost effective route is FOR THEM. If they believe the better deal for them is to pay you off and sell the car for salvage, that is where they are headed.

Based on the insurance contract you have with them, my bet is that they have that right.

I get that you would like your car fixed but it appears that boat has sailed.

As someone who has seen Porsches with body/frame damage that has been "fixed", I can tell you I would not want one.

Most policies give the insurer the option of repairing, replacing or paying actual cash value (market). Start shopping.

Accept the check from the Insurance company and if you truly believe the car can be repaired or have some other sentimental reason for wanting it. Buy it back at the salvage rate.

The important thing is you are still here to make these decisions!
