I wouldn't be so fast to say that "cool" trumps substance - there is certainly some substance in being a driver so talented at the wheel, that you can safely flip 360s in a high performance ride.

And yes - this video was designed to sell tires. So what? If you ran a company that sold tires, wouldn't you try to increase sales by promoting "cool?" If I were a stock holder in your company, I sure as hell would hope you would.

I do want to add that the last thing this video makes me want to do is burn up my tires in my Box. I enjoy the performance driving more - personal preference. But this is great tv.

I don't question Tiff's abilities. I can see how it could be "great tv" to watch. What I question is what he is DOING. Someone having a bull horn rammed up their ass is also great TV (thx, Grizz, I laughed out loud) but that doesn't mean it'd be fun or advisable to do it yourself.

Companies can try to sell anything they want in any way they want. Doesn't mean I have to buy their product or the way they are selling it.

I'm glad we agree on burning tires vs performance.

I was referring also to many other video reviews of cars by this guy and others. This particular video was just the straw that broke my camel's back, so to speak. I remember couple of months ago there was a link posted here of a video of some German magazine guy "testing" a Carrera GT on some road. He was slipping and sliding all over the place -- of course, while speaking to a camera, driving with one hand, and not wearing a helmet, as any self-respecting "cool" and "skilled" driver would. The consesus opinions usually is that it was "cool" and that he was very good. For some reason, by consensus, that's considered to be a characteristic of skilled driving. I just find it amazing how sticky that myth -- perpetuated by magazines and movies -- really is with the public in general.
