Thanks! Yes, those are the ones on ebay. I think they look pretty darn awesome.

You need bigger brakes. Those wheels are large and show the hollow-ness! Upgrade to S fronts!

Keep up the good work!

Hi Miles, thanks for this write-up. You have provided so much useful information. The job you have done with your car is meticulous, tasteful, and makes it a one of a kind that is enviable by many. (Such as myself) Great job.

I am interested in the carpet dye that you used and wonder how much you needed to do everything. I see there is a kit available. Does it include enough, or is additional dye needed.

Thanks

Red and Black Twins

Come on Miles, did you look at my car and copy it, LOL, anyway good job, I like your headlights, I started to get some and I was told I would lose my HID's. I believe you have a GT-2 front end like mine, I know the side skirts are like mine, I think I have more $$$ tied up in my interior than the exterior. I can always see my interior. About 2 months ago I did a total body wrap with the paint protection film, pricy, but worth it. Extremely easy to keep clean and it looks as though it has 8 coats of clear coat.

Thanks for the compliments.

For the carpet dye, I just got the 32 oz bottle. Not the kit, just the dye. It was more than enough to do the whole car. I even have some left over.

BTW - If you want more info on the work I'm doing on this car go to http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/45685-oil-leak-pulling-trans-change-rms-ims-clutch-etc.html

Funny! Congrats on the award! Funny how we both got 1st place for similar body styles. Although I did do a different hood and mirrors I really feel like its the best body style for these cars. Yes, its a GT-2 front end and GT-3 side skirts from Precision Porsche. Great job!

I've been thinking about getting the clear wrap done as well. After spending so much on paint and body it sounds like a good idea.

Would be pretty cool to show our cars together some time.

Yep, that would be a lot of fun, I have several trophies as I'm sure you do too, I show mine a lot. I like your hood and mirrors, and the headlights if I could get them in HID, I would. I got my parts from Xtreme Mototcars This guy is great to deal with and a really nice person. The clear wrap will be the single best investment you can ever do to your car. I kept hitting my front bumper when parking, if you look closely you can see a backup camera mounted on the front for parking, I just used a regular Porsche switch in the panel to turn it on and off, it's been a lifesaver.

Been busy working on the engine mods for this project.

Details of mods are here: http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/45685-oil-leak-pulling-trans-change-rms-ims-clutch-etc.html

What's been done thus far.
  • New RMS
  • New LN IMS Dual Row Ceramic Bearing
  • New Flywheel
  • New 987 Clutch Disc and Pressure Plate
  • New Throwout Bearing, Tube and Main Seal
  • Upgraded Oil Cooler to larger "S" model

  • New Low Temp Thermostat.

Should be completing the install of the center radiator next week.

So today I finally finished all the work I had planned. Took longer cause I kept having to order parts and it took time to get them.

Today I finished installed the center radiator. Got her all back together and took her for her first drive.

The new 987 clutch feels amazing. The sound coming from the cold air intake is deep and throaty. Very happy to get to drive her again. Tomorrow going on a driving tour with PCA Zone 8.

Painted the metal bumper black so it did not show with the bumper cover back on.

New, larger diameter coolant pipes.

Had to splice together the smaller coolant hose to the large diameter coolant hose using a 1" to 0.5" copper plumbing adapter form hardware store.
