I need some interior inspiration!

Any one have a dressed up interior to share?

ddb 12-21-2011 10:21 AM

Do you have a 3-spoke steering wheel? It will make the interior look (and feel) newer IMO. Gauge rings, painted or CF consoles and other interior bits. New shifter boot, pedals, floor mats, etc.

Very classy ddb!!!! I like! Those cf bits should have set you back a bit of $$$

truegearhead 12-22-2011 07:10 AM

Wow, very nice. I prefer the exterior color matched interior though

ddb 12-22-2011 09:03 AM

Thanks, guys.

truegearhead,

I agree, interior trim pieces painted to match body color works really well. Here are some pics with painted pieces if you haven't already seen them:

If you don't want to do the paint work yourself, I can definitely recommend Welcome. They have done work for me and the quality is second to none.

Post up some pics when you have it all sorted out.

Mark,

Did you see the second link in Post #6? It may give you some help. Christian also may be able to add some pointers since he's done it more recently.

I don't think you've posted your interior since you posted the console, etc. painted, outside of the car. Post up some interior pics. truegearhead is looking for a little inspiration here!

Probably a bit OTT for some but I like it !

Thanks Derek and Christian. I'll give it another shot and will let you know if I run into any issues.

I'll post some photos of my interior in a couple of weeks as I'm waiting for the new steering wheel to come back from the upholstery shop.

Cheers

Christian H: I think that is the first Box that I have seen without the lower center dash portion...love the alcantara A pillar and door bin covers! Were they hard to wrap/install yourself?

Mark: If you are thinking what I am thinking, some white bits/pieces inside would look stunning!!!!! R u going to do the seatbacks?????

tuanle16 12-26-2011 03:33 PM

derek... was this the one you sold? or a new one i haven't seen yet. looks nice.

ddb 12-26-2011 03:55 PM

Hey Tuan,

Yep, that's the one I sold. I'm still working on finding a new (newer) car. Actually, I'm back to being very undecided, like I was a few months ago! Something will happen sooner or later to help me make a decision.

Thanks, I really enjoyed doing the interior on that car.

Here's a photo from a couple months ago. I have a few new interior bits that I still need to install. I'm still thinking about painting the seat backs and the 3 dash trim pieces (if I can ever figure how to get those darn things out!)

The alcantara was ridiculously easy to fit it was genuine Alcantara though and the quality was superb

Christian. Where did you get the Alacantra? It seems it would be much easier to work with than leather (ask me how I know).

I want to cover the arm rests and center storage lid.

Hi John

I went to see these guys

MJ Interiors - Car Interior Specialists

They are fairly close to me and quite well known in the UK VW scene, after talking to Mike the owner for a while he agreed to sell me a metre for about £50 although he is not a stockist.

It's lovely stuff to work with and very forgiving

It should be easy enough to find on the net though, if you do buy some remember it has a face side and a back side

So far I have covered the door pocket covers, centre arm rest, the pads at the front of the console and the instrument and windscreen surround
