$6 Exhaust Mod.
I just got my S muffler today from one of our members. I was talking with cnavarro last night and we were looking at a techart muffler. It had flat black tips. SO.... I was thinking it would look nice if the whole damn thing was flat black.. It is reversable if you want it back to stock with some paint remover. So high temp flat black it is now..

Do you think my style tips would look good in black too?

I too am a fan of the black muffler and tips - I powdercoated my oval ('03) tips and spray painted my muffler with flat black ceramic. I liked it so much I used the rest of the can on our Jeep Patriot's muffler.

I wouldn't do it with your tips. I think it would look as though there was no opening in black, plus you would not see all the smaller holes around the tip which makes it cool.

The chrome look with the holes carry the theme of your new wheels with the ring of bolts. Your car is fine the way it is and looks a tad different in a good way. Just MHO of course, you do what you want...

Thanks. Haha...I never thought of it that way...matching the wheel bolt pattern. Something must be right, as you can see folks gathering to see my car in the parking lot instead of the much faster cars next to me. LOL. Btw, sorry to go off on a tangent, but have you noticed the trend to black out tail lights also? Check out the 911s to my left. Do you guys think that is a good look, or is it ricey?

With insight from JAAY and various other posts as points on interests I completed this small and very easy of a task over the weekend. I opted for a flat black which is a bit more flat than JAAY's but overall I am happy with the results. So far, none of the paint has chipped if it ever does I will strip it down and go for a color more like JAAY's. It took a hell of a lot longer to cover the car with newspaper than to spray the mufflers, but for the price and at home convenience it is well worth it. Enjoy!
Edit: I need to clean the diffusors and the piece of above the tips!

Cartel, looks good, but you could have saved yourself a lot of work and simply taken off the tips then paint. The 03/04 tips are held on by 1 bolt
Now go drill some holes!

JAAY,
The colour looks great. What exact paint did you use? What prep did you do on the muffler?
Pictures with in on your car would be great. I was thinking of this for mine as I have black box.

Porsche's newest PSE exhaust actually has black tips (matched with silver covers over them). Here they are on their special edition Anniversary 911 made for the Dutch market...
