Heavy oil consumption

I've had oil consumption ever since I bought the car 4 years ago at 45k miles. It was mostly a quart per 5k miles for 3.5 years until my AOS blew last fall. I replaced the AOS but my oil consumption...

Disconnect door handle from door latch mechanism

How the heck do you disconnect the exterior door handle from the door latch mechanism? I see the little black J connector but one end has a pin with the world's tiniest lock washer and the other end...

Just did it myself too a month or two ago. It certainly is a pain - just keep hitting and struggling and cursing. Spray the bushings with PB Blaster or similar product. Leverage with screwdrivers....

Rear bumper mounts for mounting a bike rack

What do you guys think - good solution or a disaster waiting to happen? I've seen some people using these mounts for trailer hitches so I figure a bike should be okay.

It is not on the technical drawings. It's not the hose that goes to the PCV valve on the drivers side. It connects to a hard line that seemingly has a sensor or wires at the connection then...

Finally got to inspect at least one scavenging pump - not sure exactly how they go bad it's just a metal piece turning. The other is at least installed correctly from the outside - looks like a PITA...

Is there an easy solution to checking the health of the scavenging pumps?

Car also seems to be making more startup noise than usual. Not that oil consumption might be related or anything.

Can an engine force oil through a good AOS?

Is there anything that can go wrong inside the engine to force oil through the AOS? I put a new one on 2000 miles ago and I'm burning through 3 quarts of oil. I've done leak down and compression...

DIY mechanics that have owned both 986 and 987

To those that work on your own car and have owned both - how would you compare working on a 986 to a 987. And especially a Cayman 987. Degree of difficulty, more advanced systems, more features, etc...

It's my alternator. And maybe the tensioner bearing too - it seems a little rough. Alternator makes noise when spinning by hand. If I spin it by the shaft (using a spline tool) and it makes noise...
