Boxster Rucksack/Daypack

Hi All,

I have found 3 venders (leather craftsman’s who make purses, day bags satchels’ etc.) who are willing to produce the original Boxster Rucksack. 2 are willing to do customization to match your interior color or colored piping to that black sack. Also thing like padded insert for notebooks, tablets. The have the pics, I sent them and dimensions from my 2003 S. What I really need is a real one. If you have one or know someone who does I would like to talk with them. I have spoken with the last know vender in the UK and they no longer have any access to one. If we could make some arrangement that you would feel comfortable letting me borrow it (will not be taken apart or anything like that). The last Pic shows it can be also be a quick grap and go bag. Why not get two.

I have spoken with my banker and the can set up an escrow account payable to you or any way you would like to do it. If we can work this out and it goes into production I will give you two for your help.

Thanks for your consideration,
Paul

I would gladly be a purchaser of such an item. The best I could do was buy a child's North Face mini backpack. It served it's purpose on road trips, but it was not the right color match for me, and it was not easily removed for grab and go purposes. The size was just right though, for fitting chargers, binoculars, and other small items. Here is a staged picture not attached to the roll bar.

Hi again, another forum deleted my post for selling items. At this point I have nothing to sell. If I'm able to go in to production I will follow the guidelines for any forum. My plan would be to sell on Ebay as it provides protection and recourse if needed. We have designed clips that attach to the roll bar so installation and removal will be fast and easy.

Any thought and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks for your support and PM's saying you would like to get one, Me Too.

I use a small shoulder bag made with repurposed searbelts. Made in Canada by a company called USED.
I can put a camera and extra lens, wallet, iPad and phone. Easy to get to and out of the way.

This is a great idea!
I do a quite a bit of leather crafts. Mostly watch straps (since I build my own watches) but right now I'm making a computer case for my wifes notebook. Perhaps it's time to make something like this as well.

It's not a purse it's European ( Seinfeld reference ) Never knew these existed either but seems like a good idea with the interior storage space being quite limited in a 986 . Good luck with your endeavor .

GARY - do you have a link to that store and item?
Great idea as long as it stays flat and not rub against my arm while driving.... I'd invest in one probably

Link to these bags.
U.S.E.D.- Recycled Seatbelts into Bags, Home, and Pet Products

They are well made and have a dividers in them. So about 4-6 layers in belt in a bag. Bullet proof.
Pretty hard to wear out a seatbelt.

The one in my photo stays flat and out of the way. I have a couple different models of these bags.

Thanks, Gary. These look really cool.

Question, do you attach the bag to the roll bar (or something else), or just sit it on the console? I would be hesitant to not have it be attached in some way, both for security purposes and to not have it become a flying object during hard braking or rear collision.

That looks like a Roadster Solutions bag with a Porsche crest sown on.

I got one last year in black for about $40.00. Not sure if they still have them.

They attach to the roll bar with quick disconnect tab and can be used as a small backpack when not in the vehicle.

Thanks Gary,
What “strap option” did you choose?
The 60” shoulder strap or the backpack straps?
I guess I’m also asking how did you attach the backpack to the roll bar?
.
.

I don't attach it to anything but you could. This was a present to me so I didn't have a choice on options.

Martha : Mine has the shoulder strap.

I do not attach it to anything. It fits snug inbetween the seats and has never poped out from hard breaking.

I don't live in the city where there are theives and stop and go traffic.

This company is very helpful. They will custom build to a certain degree. If you called and ordered a bag but you wanted a specific strap and size they are pretty good about it. The shop next to my studio sells them and I will go intomorrow and ask what can and can't be ordered.

Maybe we can get some bags made specifically for our Bosxters.
I will look into that.

Right?!
That is what I thought when I got it. Took me a month or so to warm up to it. Now it is my go to purse er . . . bag.

New Porsche Motorsports Rucksack

Got an email from Suncoast last week and there is a new Porsche Motorsports Rucksack in the racing collection. Looks like this is for the 981/718 Boxsters but it may work for the 986, and at $37.95 the price is not too bad as things Porsche go. I can't post the link here, but you can find it at Suncoast. The item description also says "Note for some Boxster Models: If done with care, this can be attached to the roll bar and can be hung between the seats. Adds a little extra storage for your interior." Pelican Parts isn't carrying it yet, maybe they will.

I got that email too. Price is right, but it looks a little big to me - like it would interfere with opening the center console.
