I've read before that Porsche leather is already dried out. It's not suppose to be oiled.

Regardless...mine is 18 years old and is in perfect condition despite the Texas sun and heat.

I have the all-leather interior too on my 986 - it definitely adds quality that the plastic just doesn't have. I look at used 987/981 Caymans and Boxsters all the time and don't understand why more...

Tool selection for rear wheel bearings

Has anybody successfully used the rental tools from Autozone or other FLAPS to remove their rear wheel bearings while keeping the carrier on the car? The SIR tool kit isn't practical to buy for one...

Found a local guy that had the original M030 struts with just 30k miles on them. Score! Did get the spring tool from Autozone...will be a fun weekend.

I test drove 2 Boxsters before I bought one. One had a short shift and one didn't. It's a no brainer upgrade IMHO.

Plastic is more functional. Glass is more cosmetic.

You can use a regular breaker bar and then slide a metal fence post over it. I just did that for my driver side drive axle CV boot replacement.

Torque is math. Don't waste money on a torque wrench.

I just replaced my boots on the driver side and I did not have to touch my exhaust or the skid plate. Just the sway bar and control arm. Not sure what is different about my 2000 S but don't know why...

I was so angry I took an axe to my car today...

....to remove the driveshaft axle. :D:D That sucker did not want to come out! Taped some wood to it, sprayed with PB Blaster, and hammered away. Regular hammer had no effect.

I'm pretty frugal on many things but after reading people's issues with other oils I ponied up and bought the Porsche transmission oil. Some things aren't worth messing with.

Yes 7 quarts. Consumption rate doesn't vary for the sump level. Oil is clean and more clean that it usually is after 5k miles due to the replacement oil.
