Completely annihilated that piece of crap front headlight tower connector, so now the entire front wheel liner has to come out so I can push the back of the connector into the headlight assembly...

You are correct that there are two clutch...
You are correct that there are two clutch switches. It is very possible the other switch is causing the fault. Did you check fuse B7? Try replacing the other switch.
