[QUOTE=Bavarian Motorist]HOLY ****************.
WHERE DO I BUY ONE OF THOSE?????? THAT IS FERRARI-ESQUE. That's because Tubi makes the exhaust for Ferrari. Lol. You can buy them from Champion Motorsports in Florida, but it's expensive.... I think it's like $2500. Awesome sound though...way it should be coming from the factory, imo. |
I'd gladly pay an extra 2k for this option.
That was amazing. I keep listening to it over and over. Probably would sound like crap on my base 987 :( |
I think it would sound good on your base as well. Prob is the high price. Maybe you could get them to sell to you for a discount. Worth a try. With that exhaust, you'd hold your own next to a Ferrari in the street. LOL

I am leasing it. I figure if I mod it to my likings, I will just buy it after the lease is up. Know what I mean? But in all likelihood, that won't happen. I have the lease for 36months. Might as well enjoy it :) Whether I buy or lease, I am gonna be losing the same amount of $$ |

Tubi exhausts are sweet, though that video you linked to is of the kreis-sieg exhaust... Kreis-sieg exhausts are amazing. Their 987 exhaust setup is $5500! |

The 97 boxster has one set of cats... not two.
I have Deluboz' headers and muffler on my 97 and it's plenty loud. Sizeable resonance at 2-3k though... but I got used to it with the top up. Top down it's just glorious all the way through the powerband and quiet as a mouse on the freeway with the cruise control set. Deluboz's muffler is really light compared to stock and much cooler... my rear trunk is no longer a rolling pizza warming unit. BTW, I'm learning that all twin chamber mufflers create the resonance issues I have now. |

hahah, no sweat.... Has anyone seen any videos/clips of the 986 with a tubi? (if they even made one for it, that is) |

Unfortunately I have the resonance as well, and really wish I didnt. Its liveable if you learn to simply avoid the 2200-2800 RPM area in my case, but I wish I didnt have to. I'm planning to do headers and secondary cat deletes down the road, and when I do so I am searching for an exhaust that does not resonate, whichever that may be.

I don't think it's available yet from Porsche as
a Tequipment item, but when it is, the factory sport exhaust is just what most of you are looking for. At least for the 987s. No resonance points, deep and growly at low RPM, Ferrari-esque at hight rpm. Not too loud, at least if you keep the ol' right foot off the floor. Simply perfect. And you can just forget the switching stuff. Full time loud mode is just right. As soon as he hears (and drives) it, Randall will be able to attest to this. Oh my. I may have to go for a drive. Let's see now... 73 degrees, sunny, low humidity, birds a'chirpin', bugs not too bad (yet), leaves poppin' out (mostly weeds in my yard, though). Hmm. Sounds like great Boxstering weather to me! Best, - Mark |
For the best sound under $1k, I recommend GHL. You get what you paid for, so the quality is only so-so, all GHL exhausts suffer from broken mounting studs.
I have a cargraphic exhaust now, not as loud as GHL, no resonance though if that's what u like. GHL has plenty of resonance for u from 2 to 3k rpm. The Tubi sounds nice, but GHL is almost as nice. Quote:

Any sounds clips of the GHL?

If you want loud, the GHL is probably one of the loudest widely available systems out on the market. You sound like a good candidate for the GHL.

It is sightly louder with the bypass pipes, but not much more since it was pretty loud already. The pipes did not pass emissions here in Vancouver, so I had to put the cats back on for the test. Luckily it's easy bolt on and only every 2nd year. If you search my post, I have dyno test with all the bolt on, but I didn't dyno the car at stock. I did notice some gains from the pipes when I first install it, but I'm so use to it now that I don't notice it. |
has anybody checked these exhaust. these are the OEM exhaust with 1" bypass pipes. these are in Europe but I am thinking on modifying mine. What do you think.
look for the link to hear clip of the exhaust. |
