Parking light replacement

I turned off my car with the lights still on tonight and discovered something, the parking headlight on the right side is out. Not the main headlight or the foglight, but the non-HID bulb just beneath the headlight that stays on when the car is parked with the headlight switch still on.

Since I'm going to have to replace it, I'm kinda wondering what my options are. Normally I guess I'd just get another OEM one, but has anyone upgraded those lights? Should I worry about them being even (new one vs. 6-year old one), and possibly replace both? The headlight units themselves are factory Xenons I think, I can take them apart to replace just the parking light, correct?

Parking Light / City Light Replacement

David,

I don't know if you have replaced the city lights or parking bulbs yet, but I just had the same problem and wanted to share my solution. I have the Litronic headlight system which requires an H 6 W according to the owners manual. These bulbs are pretty hard to find. The other light system uses W 5 W or a wedge bulb. I wanted the bulb to match the Xenon better so I found LED bulbs that replace the regular bulbs. Not an exact match, but much closer than the original setup. The LED's have a little more of a blue hue than the Xenons, but not really noticeable when all lights are on. Here are some pictures before and after I switched out. Take a look, let me know what you think.

I chose the bulbs listed: UH6WW+ H6W BAX9 - 9mm BC 6 Leds White Offset Pins (Pair)Wide Ang

slane6, that's a pretty cool solution. I've never really been a fan of aftermarket LEDs, but that seems like an ideal use for them. That OEM light is virtually useless there. I've always disliked how the bulb seemed so yellow, especially when you've got Litronics on.

Good pix too. You may have inspired me...

Dude, those LEDs are nice! Now why couldn't I have seen your post before I ended up getting OEM replacements:P

Thanks for posted slane6, I guess I just missed seeing it tho, and I was at the dealership to close up my warranty covered items and said get the lamps too (the other had gone out right before I got there). So, with $32 in the replacements...I guess I'll hang on to them for awhile. But those LEDs are cool, any idea if anyone has done a blue version for the foglights?

I don't know about the fog light replacements but I am interested in knowing as well. I will be doing more research on it and will post anything I find.
