ABS Bleeding with Durametric

Hi,

Recently replaced the brakes & need to bleed the ABS.

Have Durametric but not the procedure.

Is anyone able to assist?

I tried to bleed them on my 2000 S and the durametric activation did nothing (or maybe I just failed to hear it or maybe it is silent) I've heard that unless you ingested air into the abs pump it isn't necessary, or that you can take a short drive and activate the abs a few times and them come back and do a regular bleed.

I can look up the procedure and send it to you on Monday, if nobody else sends it first.

Unless there's a difference between the 98 and 00 braking systems... why do you need the Durametric?

I changed the brake fluid in my 98. No big. No software. Just in and out.

Did I miss something? Is this a complicated procedure requiring the use of software?

My brakes work fine.

If you get air into the ABS control system, a simple flush will not remove it; that requires cycling the pump and valves while flushing. That is where the software comes in.

Others are correct... unless you ingested heaps of air* into system there is no need to 'bleed' the ABS pump. (* extremely unlikely just changing brake pads/rotors assuming you never opened a brake line and let system and reservoir drain)

Just use a power bleeder (as pressure source). I do it on all my vehicles myself ranging from MY 1983 thru 2021 including track cars. But if you DID let heaps of air in yeah you will need to have the ABS pump cycled.

Whenever I have bled while opening the valves and pump via Durametric I get an affirmative click from the ABS unit.

Pretty simple - Activate bleed, repeat for each. deactivate bleed - done.

98 Base here.

Yes on the bleeder. Less expensive than a Durametric.
