I just received a postcard from my Porche Dealer offering a 10% savings on PCM Software Update. What could that be for a 2001 986?

I'm pretty sure PCM updates are just Map updates for the GPS system. If your 2001 has a PCM 1 unit, it uses CDs for the map data. So... do you want to buy some antiquated Navigation CDs for over $200? You can get a nice mount for a smart phone for under $20 and use that for nav and have current maps.

I got an IphoneXs for Christmas and don't have a gps in my P car. More importantly I now know what a PCM update is.
