Hood locked with disconnected battery

Hey all, so I put my car away last month before traveling for the holidays, and forgot to leave the front hood ajar. Now I need to turn the car on but can't open the front trunk because I've disconnected the negative cable on the battery. I drive a 2002 Boxster S, so the hood is released electronically.

I've searched on how to open the hood using the terminals on the left side of the driver's footwell, but couldn't find conclusive information on what I would need to buy to do so.

What parts do I need to buy to power the front hood unlocking mechanism temporarily so that I can reconnect the battery?

Thanks for your help!

There should be a manual release cable in the passenger side wheel well. It looks like piano wire with a loop on the end. Just give it a sharp pull.

You may have to turn the wheel or even consider removing the wheel for easier access. You may first want to check if any previous owner relocated the cable to the front bumper with access behind the tow hook cover.

I'm sure there has been enough suggestions now to get it open. I'm planning on getting one of these in the near future. With the miniaturizations of power, I thought it would come in handy one day. Would work great for the kids too on RV trips.

Can be had for about $85 if you look around.

Once you are up and running....

....invest in one of these: OEM Porsche Charge-o-Mat Battery Tender Maintainer Trickle Charger 12V | eBay

Your car has several cut outs in the door gasket to allow the cable to pass through the closed door on its way to the cigarette lighter.

ALWAYS leave a parked Boxster on a trickle charger.

Always.

:
Be careful with Trickle Chargers. The cheaper, older ones are inferior to the new "Maintainers" like Ctek. There is lots in Search to explain why(overcharging).
.One of these connects to the cigarette lighter socket and is what the experts use:

Gelbster...

...is correct. Maintainer. Sorry for the bad verbiage.

I also own a Ctek. Great product.

Thanks all, these are some great resources. I went with option #1 and wired up a cigarette lighter jumper cable. It worked without issue, so I've now got a nice back-up solution hidden behind the passenger's seat in case of a dead battery down the road.
