Mine is a 2000S with the cable instead of electric latch but maybe someone can point you to the correct fuse to check.

Can always contact the PO to see if he can shed some light. There is also an emergency release cable that runs behind front bumper toward the passenger side tail light. Not sure how you might access it unless it has been routed to the front tow hook.
