The whole 986 exhaust system is a joke. Compare it the 996 and you'll see how tiny the exhaust is on our 986's. The 987 came with the same motor but bigger exhaust(along with a better air box) and it has more power. I wouldn't consider replacing just the headers a waste of money, but you probably won't feel any difference unless you do something about the rest of the system too.
