No spare tire for the 2006 Boxster.. Looking for one

So any feedback from 987 owners that have done anything about this?
Does a 986 spare definitely do the job? How about a 996 spare?
What about a jack -- 986, 996, non-Porsche?
Ways to fasten the spare+cover in the front trunk?
Can't check as the car's not near me -- do we even have a lug wrench?
Can the OEM 18" rear be carried safely in the back trunk with bungee cords?

Ya i have a huge problem if i get a hole in my boxster....try fitting 19z in the front trunk, dont think it'll happen. don't think 18z would fit either for that matter. i know for a fact that my 17z fit perfectly in the front.

from what i've seen the 987 has an even smaller front trunk, so i don't think even a spare would fit..correct me if i'm wrong. no way is an 18 going to fit anywhere.

so the air can maybe the only option.

or i do kinda like the idea of the bungee cord and a towel.............just don't go over 75mph the spoiler will get really really f+++++ up...

I assume that was an 18" rear wheel on the pic?

Not my car. Guy pulled in and out a the local dealer to pick up a wheel, and was gone in a few minutes.

Tried to talk to him but he had other things on his mind I guess.

Hope he did not go over 75 mph.....

I can tell you with complete confidence that there is no way either a front or rear wheel will fit in the front trunk..




As for the 986 spare, this isn't the one recommended by Porsche, they offer the older collapsable spare - there is a good thread on Rennteam on the 997 board titled 'today i got a puncture' for those interested.

I doubt the 986 spare will fit the front trunk unless you deflated it, even then debatable, as the area it would sit in is further forward and therefore more restricted by the hood line than in the 986
