relays

986Forum-ites:

D'oh, where do I find the relays in my 986 MY2000 Boxster? Specifically, the horn relay. While I'm at it, any of you guys have any ideas for a really loud, attention-getting horn for my baby? I have had some near misses in busy L.A. traffic recently.

Relays are in drivers side kick panel located in the black panel between your left foot and the door.

No idea about a horn but I know Hella made a popular one for BMW's.

The relays are up above the fuses and are hard to see. I had a blown fuse for the horn. Turned out both horns were shorted out after all these years and were just blowing fuses. 2nd time I had and issue it was the steering wheel bushings on the back plate. It was a hot sunny week d that we were not home. Sun heated up the interior that the horn was blowing for hours until it burned out. Came home to dead battery and dead horn. So check everything before throwing parts at it.

Glad I wasn't your next-door neighbor through that episode!

OP, you were asking about aftermarket horns, but I love the sound of the stock 2001 Boxster dual-tone horns. Seem like a sound quality and ample volume (at least for my application). Best of luck.
