Engine Rebuild

I rebuilt my 200 boxster s engine reinstalled and runs great. only issue is having trouble shifting into 1st and reverse on 6 speed manual. is there a shifter cable adjustment that needs to be made and how is it done? I already have the center console out. any help thanks!

The one on the left controls your side to side movement, is it possible you are too much on the side and striking the side of the shifter underneath? Also the rubber on the front/back shifter (which would be the one hitting the side) may be wearing out. Mine looked kik a dog had chewed it and I could barely get it into reverse. Getting a 9x7 shifter installed fixed it for me, as I included that part.

There is a Porsche tool that will help you with this
Porsche 997 SSK Short Shifter Fits 911 Boxster Cayman 996 997 986 987 | eBay

It is the green plastic part in the picture and costs about $15.00

removal queston

Thomas,
I am preparing to rebuild my 01 Box S so currently reading abut the experiences of others. Some say best to remove the engine and trans together as a unit, others say do them separately.
You thoughts?
Thx
Gary
