Frunk intermittent

This problem has been dogging me a while. Did a search, to no avail. Sometimes the frunk opens normally, sometimes all I hear is the actuator, but it won’t open. Usually in warms conditions, hot weather, A/C on for example. 2004 base Boxster. Can the actuator cable stretch to the point it won’t work until it cools? Could it be a fan issue on the passenger side? Now it’s happening in NY, where the weather has been cool, whereas before it was summer weather. I’m stumped. Next time I open it, I will relocate the emergency cable to the tow hook area. I think I can can get to it if I pop the passenger headlight! Any advice appreciated. Thanks guys.

Mine was doing that. Lubed the latch and cable end at the latch. Works a treat now.

I believe the 2004 latch electronically is operated.

I had that problem and fixed it by replacing the latch mechanism.

Oh, yes. Maybe try lube anyway?

It is electrically operated, and yes, it has been lubed.

My latch would open the first and sometimes the second time I did it. Then would make a noise but wouldn't work. I replaced mine but before I unplugged it I tested it. It just didn't have the same force pulling after the first couple of times.
