AC/ Non AC Belts

Has any one bypassed the AC pump to run the car on track. I'm looking at just Popping the belt off and putting on the shorter belt from GSR with UDP to save wear and tear on the compressor shaft clutch bearings etc. Good Idea? Bad Idea?

Not needed. If you turn the AC system off, the system is free wheeling at the compressor clutch, so there is no drag.
