Child Seat

I have the child seat installed in my car. However, when I buckle in the airbag disengage , the airbag light does not flash as stated in the manual. It is on all the time. Is this normal or could it be defective.

Thanks,

JT

I also have a child seat installed in my Boxster with the airbag deactivation bracket. My light on the dash always blinks when I start up the engine with the buckle engaged. I wouldn't put my child in the seat unless I see the light blinking.

Take a look under the seat. You should see where the electrical cable harness from the deactivation bracket plugs into a wire harness. Make sure this connection is good and secure. Perhaps it wiggled out. Short of that, take it back to dealer and have them check it out.

Installation of deactivation brackets is considered a warantee item (from what I learned over a year ago on PPBB) so the fix may not cost you anything....

cheers,

Thanks for the reply.

No way I would put my child in the car until the issues was resolved.

I installed the bracket and plugged the cable in as needed and the light was not blinking. Finally, I looked in the box the seat came in and laying on the bottom was a little card about the size of a business card. The card stated that once the bracket is in place, the dealer must program the vehicles computer to recognize the bracket. Took the car in to the dealer, 5 minutes later the light was flashing. Things working fine and my little girl just loves riding with the top down. I will have to post a picture

Thanks,

JT

Yeah...my son loves to "go for a ride in Daddy's 'Box-sta' " !!

I assumed that you had the dealer install the bracket (thus the computer would have been programmed already!).

Glad all is well now.
