Does anyone know what the sensor just right of the vacuum reservoir is? Goes deep into the block and looks similar to a knock sensor?

That's what I thought, but there's a bolt that holds it in place.

Here's a picture!

Ah sh** Bypro, if I run the car hard enough can I burn off that light layer of paint.
The cars temp gauge is running about 5 degree cooler than before the rebuild. I did put in the 160 thermostat.

Just thinking again ByPro, considering heat dissipation how much worst is the paint on the engine compared to an engine covered with dirt and grime?

I wouldn't do anything, the LN sleeves reduce friction so it runs cooler. In Canada the paint may help prevent corrosion, but I wouldn't worry about it.
